Emily Spencer

PT, RYT

She/Her/Hers

After earning her masters degree in physical therapy from Quinnipiac University, Emily went on to work in outpatient orthopedics for eight years before discovering her passion for pelvic health.
Since 2015, she has specialized in pelvic health and received advanced training and certifications through the Herman and Wallace Institute, where she has also enjoyed being a teaching assistant.
Emily has advanced training in bladder, bowel and sexual dysfunction in all genders. She is particularly passionate about helping those with bladder pain and endometriosis, and has attended many courses and conferences on these topics.
During the past three years Emily worked to build and grow a pelvic health program in Southern Maine. Over this time, she continued to treat a variety of pelvic related conditions, mentored new graduates, received advanced training in complex pelvic pain conditions, and also gained experience using real time ultrasound for bladder and pelvic health.
Emily has been a yoga teacher for more than 15 years and she incorporates the principles of breath, mindfulness and movement into her treatments. She believes that the healing journey must begin with listening, and that basic tenets for lasting change involve education and self compassion.
Outside of the clinic, Emily enjoys exploring the outdoors with her husband Ben and daughter Eleanor.

What Patients Say About Emily

I had a great experience with Emily Spencer. She helped me with pelvic floor issues I was experiencing. She listens closely to all the issues you have and helps with at home exercises that will fit into your personal lifestyle along with the office treatments. Oceanside office and scheduling were also very helpful and easy to work with.

After multiple failed interventions for a prolapsed bladder, I was finally referred to Emily at Oceanside PT and she worked wonders!  After 10 visits of internal work and strengthening exercises, she almost completely eliminated the pressure from the prolapse.
