Emily Spencer graduated from Quinnipiac University in Hamden, CT in 2007 with her Masters in Physical Therapy. For 10 years, she has gained experience working in an outpatient orthopedic practice, focusing on integrating principles of stabilization and evaluating body mechanics to identify the root cause of dysfunction, rather than merely treating the symptoms. Emily has advanced pelvic floor, bladder and bowel training through the Herman and Wallace Pelvic Health Institute. Emily is also a certified Hatha yoga teacher through the Sivananda Institute as well as prenatal yoga, connecting her love of yoga with her expertise in women’s health. Emily’s yoga classes, Gentle Yoga for Women and Stability Flow Yoga, at the Oceanside Studio, integrate the fundamental pelvic floor concepts into a specialized yoga practice designed for women. Emily has designed advanced training and workshops for yoga practitioners to incorporate the concepts of pelvic floor health and proper rehabilitation modifications for conditions such as prolapse, osteoporosis, incontinence and various pain conditions.

Emily combines her knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and study of biomechanics, with her understanding of yoga concepts, for a whole person treatment approach. Ultimately, she believes in education and empowerment through gaining a better understanding of your body and how it moves. You can follow her on Instagram @pelvicyogi.

In her free time, Emily can be found at various yoga studios, backcountry skiing, hiking, paddle boarding or traveling with her friends and family.
